Well, with only four sleeps left, I can't help but gaze out the window at the miserable rain with quiet excitement that Chris and I only have a few days left to soak it up (literally) before we head to sunnier weather! After leaving everything until the last minute in terms of taxes, travel shots, insurance and supplies I am feeling on top of everything and ready to GO! Ironically our first stop is Fiji, where they are experiencing flooding and thunderstorms, and then on to New Zealand, where they have had one of the rainiest summers on record! Hmm... maybe we're not escaping the Vancouver weather at all? What?!
Anyway, the point of this post is to see if anyone might have some top ten lists or must-sees for the countries that we plan on travelling to. Or alternatively if you had a horrifying experience somewhere and wouldn't mind giving us the heads up not to follow down the same road of disaster, we would very much appreciate the advice!
We plan on travelling to the following countries:
Fiji, NZ, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma (worth it?), Egypt, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain and Morocco!
Plans may change but for now, that's our plan!
If you have a heads up for anything that is an absolute MUST or MUST NOT, please PLEASE share! That's what we both love about travelling - the stories, people and adventure. We'd love you to share yours with us!
We will of course miss everyone back home, but stayed tuned for stories of our hopefully entertaining travels!
PS, Comments may warrant postcards!!
PPS, This doesn't even come close to being enough, but I just wanted to say a HUGE thank-you to my Mom and Dad, for letting Chris and I shamelessly free-load over the last five months. We would never have been able to achieve this goal without your loving support. I love you both so much!!!
Hi Lauren
ReplyDeleteYou have an awesome trip ahead of you! When you're visiting New Zealand, you should visit Rotorua. There's Maori culture and spas with hot spring pools. Also visit Waitomo by water tubing underground to see glow worms.
Angeline would have tips on Singapore since she's from there.
Can't wait to hear about your travels. Have a safe and fun trip!
Best of luck on your travels! Can't wait to read all your adventures!!
ReplyDeleteMom & dads email is is_ferg@Shaw.ca
Take care.
Xoxoxo
Burma (Myanmar) is definitely worth it!! A country mostly cut off from the present, trapped in the past...where people have so little, but struggle on, with amazing friendliness...and political situation there may actually finally be changing...lots to see, too...it's truly a different experince
ReplyDeleteIn the old days, when i went there, you only go a week's visa, and you could finance the entire week by bringing in a bottle of Johnny Walker and a carton of cigarettes to be sold on the black market...everyone did it!
